  1. Stretch when you get out of bed in the morning. Stand on the tips of your toes, and let your arms and hands reach for the ceiling. Feel your muscles warming up, and moving, and working. It will invigorate you as you start your day.
  2. Purchase socks that make your feet feel cozy. Your feet will thank you later.
  3. Drink more water.
  4. When you think you’ve drunk enough water, drink some more.
  5. Take your vitamins.
  6. When you go to open your refrigerator, take notice of what you see. What foods are you choosing to nourish your body? I hope there’s a blend of what is healthy and what is a happy indulgence.
  7. Wear sunscreen. Even when you’re not at the beach.
  8. Keep a gratitude journal. It doesn’t have to be complex. It doesn’t have to be pages and pages of perfect sentences and thoughtful insights. In fact, it probably shouldn’t be — let your gratitude be a reflection of the tiny (and sometimes huge things) that you’re grateful for right here and now. When you start naming the little things you’re grateful for, you’ll be amazed at how life unfolds.
  9. You are beautiful. Remember that. Tell yourself that in the mirror when you wake up in the morning. Remind yourself of that as often as you need to.
  10. Lose yourself in nature every once and a while. Feel the breeze. Drink in the sunshine. See the color that surrounds you. Take long walks in the woods. On the beach. Throughout your neighborhood.
  11. There are opportunities in life that you’ll blow. You’ll say the wrong thing. You won’t be what they want. That’s ok. Recognize the mistakes for what they were, and then let them go.
  12. Let the little things go. Let yourself feel pain. Let yourself feel joy. Let yourself embrace the moment and season in which you find yourself, and find the balance in knowing when to move forward.
  13. Move your body every day — it’s good for your health, but it’s also good for your soul.
  14. When you’re tired, go to sleep. It sounds quite simple, and yet, it’s harder than we realize sometimes.
  15. Remember that resting is not laziness.
  16. Take a chance on the dreams that are percolating in your heart and your head. If you don’t — who will?
  17. Lead, and listen, with love.
