And Still, The World Is Alive
A poem
And how marvelous is it,
that even after the Earthquakes,
and the tornadoes,
and the hurricanes,
and the rain that has wiped away the dirt,
the world is still alive -
still alive after how we’ve hurt one another
still alive after the frozen winter
still alive after we take it for granted
that we can breathe and
that we can love and
that we have the power to choose
what we do tomorrow;
so please pick up your dreams
and dust them off the shelf
that they’ve been sitting on for far too long,
for it would be a crime to squander
the gift
that is your one and precious life.
