When my Nonna was in her mid-forties, she got into a car accident. She was hit by a car, broke her arm, picked herself back up off the road, and went home. Yes, she went home, a broken arm and all. At the time, she didn’t know that she broke it. It hurt, sure. But broke? There was no way for her to tell.
