How To Get Unstuck

Think about where you want to be, and then work backward. Start applying for the job you wish you had, begin filling out the paperwork for the new apartment, and open the bank account for the new home. Throw out the jeans that don’t fit, and treat yourself to a new pair. Listen to the voice inside your head that’s nudging you to turn in a new direction, and then tell your therapist about it. Pay attention to red flags, and hold onto green ones. Surround yourself with people who carry your heart as gently as you would theirs. Go to bed when your body tells you, and in the morning, gently put one foot and then the other on the floor — especially when you want to crawl under the covers and stay there all day long. Remember that you are more than one thing, and the world will try to put you in a box, but you’re allowed to break it open.
