May You Never Be Too Busy To Be Kind
A poem for hurried souls
--
May you never be too busy to notice,
the unspoken sadness
in someone else’s eyes,
or the way their voice
seems to have lost its sparkle.
May you never be too busy to stop
and smile at the stranger who holds the door open,
and thank the barista who hands you your coffee,
and say hello to your coworkers as you start your day.
May you never be too busy to call
your mother or
your father or
your grandparents on their birthday,
or on a random Tuesday,
simply to remind them of how much they are loved.
May you never be too busy to notice the beauty
of the sun as it rises
and a rainbow as it dances in the sky,
and how moonbeams cast upon any body of water
seem to make it come alive.
May you never be too busy to notice the life
that is happening all around you,
may you never be too busy to be present,
and grateful,
and kind.
