Still Life: The IVF Household

The kitchen table is strewn with
boxes and boxes and
needles and needles and
gauze and more gauze and
a sharps container and
some swabs and more swabs and
some alcohol but not the good kind —
rubbing alcohol,
to clean the part of the skin
where the medicine goes in,
where the wish gets made,
where the hope of parenthood
seeps…
