I hope you are the kind of person who loves deeply,
and gives affection freely,
and sees where the world needs more light —
and ignites a match.

I hope you are the kind of person who thinks about
others often,
and treats their hearts as gently as you would treat
your own.

I hope you are the kind of person who gives without
the need for applause,
or fame,
or a pat on the back —
but because it’s the right thing to do.

It’s easy to be kind and compassionate when nobody is watching,
or paying attention,
or when it’s trendy on the internet —
but I hope you find it within yourself
to cultivate goodness
in the quiet moments
that will never gain you more followers,
or fame,
or notoriety.

For it’s the quiet moments of grace,
and compassion,
and listening to others instead of inserting your own narrative
that make up the moments that can change a life,
and the world.
