We Can Do Hard Things

Like sitting up, and rolling over, and learning how to swallow our food.
Like drinking from a cup. Like using a fork, a knife, and a spoon. We can memorize phone numbers, first names, and home addresses. We can figure out how to use a phone, send a text, and write an email that would make our English teachers proud. We can run marathons and become doctors, lawyers, and teachers. We can become mothers and fathers and parents. We can put a man on the moon and discover the secrets of the sea. We can build businesses and bridges and buildings that touch the sky. We can make music where there was just silence and write stories where there was once a blank page. We can learn how to change our minds when presented with new information. We can continue to love even after our heart is shattered. We can choose what we say and how we say it. We can decide how we show up in this world. We can be better than we were yesterday. We can choose to seek joy. We can continue to pursue the dream.
