What Doesn’t Kills Us Makes Us

A poem

Tired / sleepy / a little down in the dumps / Confused / and perplexed / and eager to find answers and closure / It makes us wonder / it makes us speculate / it makes us figure out another way to do it / What doesn’t kill us makes us weary / and a little mushy / and appreciative of what we do have / It makes us count our blessings / and give our thanks / and nudges us to look for the joy wherever we may find it / What doesn’t kill us makes us cautious / it makes us carefree / it makes us lean into each day with our whole heart / What doesn’t kill us makes us laugh / it makes us cry / it makes us into someone we have not met before / And yes, it makes us stronger, too.
