Perhaps you find it within the quiet moments of your life
Where do you find sunshine?
Maybe you find it in the comfort of your living room. Perhaps you sit, perched on the couch, gazing out the window and wondering what’s happening in the world. And then the clouds shift, and part, and your lower your gaze because the room is suddenly bright. Rays of sunshine have found their way into your home. They dance upon your eyelids, and sit with you on the couch, and make your living room illuminate in a way that a lamp never could.
And so you sit, gazing out the window, warmed by the heat of the sun.
Where do you find sunshine?
Perhaps you find it at the beach. Maybe you stand at the edge of the water and dig your toes into the sand. The waves wash over your feet and splash upon your legs. The heat from the sunshine doesn’t feel as strong, because the coolness of the waves balances it all out. You close your eyes and turn your head upwards — letting it all wash over you. Here, you are unshakable. Here, you are calm.
Here you stand, toes in the sand, powered by the sun.
Where do you find sunshine?
Perhaps you find it within your own heart. Maybe it’s the feeling that you get when you go for a long run, even though you didn’t want to — but the air in your lungs and the pounding of your feet on the pavement makes you feel as strong as the sun. Or perhaps it’s when you do the ‘thing’ that puts you outside of your comfort zone. Things like finally writing the story that’s in your head, or taking that dance class even though you have two left feet, or visiting that city that you’ve been reading about for all these years. Things like taking that class, or running that race, or finally applying for that new position.
Or things like telling the one that you love how much you love them.
Where do you find sunshine?
Perhaps you find it within the quiet moments of your life — those precious in-between moments of tender love and care between you and whoever is your forever human. Maybe when you gaze upon the eyes of the one that you love and exchange nothing more than a simple smile, that’s your sunshine, too.
