You Can Love Yourself, And Still Make Room To Grow

You can do both

I hope you know that you can love yourself and still make room to grow, for self-love and self-improvement are not an either-or situation.

You are allowed to celebrate your accomplishments with delight and unabashed glee. You worked hard for whatever it is that you’re celebrating, and so it’s ok to shout your joy from the rooftops. It’s ok to enjoy the success that has come your way. It’s ok to say “thank you” when other people congratulate you on your success.

It’s ok to want to be better, too.

You’re allowed to want to improve upon whatever success you have — to do so doesn’t mean that you’re not happy with what you have already done. It doesn’t mean that you’re self-deprecating or ungrateful, either. What it does mean is that you’re looking to strengthen your skills and improve upon whatever it is that you’ve already built.

And that’s ok, too.

It’s ok to love your strengths and acknowledge your flaws — for nobody is perfect, and there is always room to learn and to grow.

There’s always room to be more healthy — to drink more water, to eat more vegetables, to move your body each day. There’s always room to dig deep into your heart and figure out what it is that you want from this one and precious life. There’s always a moment where you can choose to be grateful for the joys that do surround you.

There’s always space to choose to build upon the life that you have while still appreciating the person you are, and where you have come from, and the direction you hope to one day go.

Self-love means that you see the beauty that you hold both inside and out — and self-improvement implies that you love yourself enough to keep expanding beyond the person who you were yesterday. For you are allowed to build upon the things you love and let go of what you no longer want to hold.
