But you can go for a run / buy yourself something pretty / and talk to your therapist for an extra hour this week / You can go to that fancy dinner / take the chance on the new job / and go on the vacation that you’ve been dreaming about for years / You can decide to read more books / and listen to music that hugs your heart / and lose yourself in the kind of art that takes you away from this time / and place / and pain that you’re wading through / You cannot fix someone / but you can choose who you surround yourself with / and the kind of words you consume / and the type of treatment you will stand / You cannot fix someone / but you can lead with love / even that means walking away / because you’re trying to learn how to love yourself / first.
